Gary Bunzer, the RV Doctor, demonstrates how the recently developed 360 Siphon Vent effectively removes odors inside an RV by exhausting them out the roof vent before they have a chance to invade the RV living space. Holding tanks that come standard with most RVs are simply designed to keep rain, debris and rodents from entering the RV, not prevent odors. Most RVers have at one time or another dealt with obnoxious odors from their holding tanks. This product is designed to eliminate them, and based on RV Travel’s experience, does just that. The product is available at most RV accessories stores and Amazon.com.
If you are getting tank odors inside the RV, fix whatever is wrong. The only openings inside the RV should be the toilet and drains. Each drain has a trap sealing out odors and the toilet is always closed except for when flushing. The 360 cap might create a very minimal vacuum on the system but it will not suck out odors because there is no orher opening to allow air into the tank.
ReplyDeleteWhat's in your toilet? The drop toilet BLACK VOID seems to be one of the most overlooked sources of odors and is seldom known or mentioned. Example, the Thetford IV High Foot toilet is a hollow shell and is fully exposed inside to the black tank at all times. It can look spotless from the blade down, but your worse odor nightmare could very well have been sloshed higher into the toilet body when driving to the dump and you will never see it until you remove the toilet. If you have this type of toilet and suspect you are a victim of the Black Void, open the blade and use a flashlight and mirror to look up into the toilet body. I have seen some scary reflections in the mirror over the years.
